Dear Parishioners and School Families,
In his visit to the United States last year, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, urged the Church to provide "clear and united witness" on public policy issues that impact the common good. Many of these issues - including health care, immigration reform, marriage, abortion, and support for Catholic Schools - are constantly being scrutinized on a national and state level and so demand our consistent attention. As issues related to these critical matters arise in both the Delaware and Maryland legislatures, we have in place the Maryland Catholic Conference and our Delaware Lobbyist (supported by our Delaware Public Policy Committee) to take our case to the state legislators. However, often times, we need our people to communicate directly with legislators and other government officials.
This is to inform you of an initiative the Diocese of Wilmington is undertaking this fall to expand our capacity for quicker and more efficient communication with legislators. This initiative is called the Delaware Catholic Advocacy Network. It will strengthen our "clear and united witness" on public issues as encouraged by our Holy Father. I am requesting your assistance in getting this initiative on its feet.
The Delaware Catholic Advocacy Network (DCAN), like the Maryland Catholic Advocacy Network implement by the Maryland Catholic Conference, has two purposes: 1) to educate Delaware Catholics on the important public policy issues of the day, and 2) to give our people a convenient, email based system to communicate directly with lawmakers on important issues; issues of your choosing. I am asking you to join the Delaware Catholic Advocacy network. Please see the attached link for more information.

Your help is greatly needed.
Gratefully,
