General
Information
Our Lady of
Fatima is a Catholic Elementary School consisting of Preschool through
Grade 8. The school day begins at 7:55AM and ends at 2:45PM
The Preschool located in the Fr. McDonough Hall, has a morning session
(8:00AM-11:00AM) which runs 5 days a week for 4 year olds (birth date
by August 31).
Located in the Fr. McDonough Hall is a half-day Kindergarten (7:55-11:30)
and one full day Kindergarten classes (7:55-2:45) for 5 year olds.
Our Lady of Fatima has two classes of each grade. Grades 1 to 4
are located on the first floor of the school, and Grades 5 to 8 are on
the second floor.
There is also
a full-time Counselor, Reading Specialist, and Title 1 reading specialists.
All students
(except Preschool) have weekly classes in Art, Library, Music, and Health/Physical
Education. Grades 3 through 8 have Computer classes on a rotating basis
for a period of 12 weeks. The 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
also have Spanish.
Art, Health, and Spanish are taught in the classroom.
The Library
has been fully automated and is equipped with 4 computer workstations,
a scanner and 2 printers. The library is the base for our Accelerated
Reader Program.
Music is held
in the music room in Fr. McDonough Hall. The children are exposed
to a variety of musical instruments including the recorder, hand chimes,
and keyboards. There is also a 6th Grade Choir.
The children participate in the President’s Physical Fitness Program in
Physical Education.
Every classroom computer is connected to the school network and the internet.
The Computer Lab is equipped with 12 computers, a laser printer, 2 color
printers, and a scanners. The lab is made available to students
for school projects and research.
There is an After-School Program made available for children (Kindergarten
to 8th grade) from 7:00 to 7:30 AM. and 2:45 to 6:00 PM located in Fr.
McDonough Hall.
Bus Service is also available to specific areas.
Instrumental Music Program - A Diocesan Program with lessons given once
a week at the school. This gives students an opportunity to participate
in the Honor Band.
There is a Parish Choir that children in grades 5 through 8 may join.
The Knightly News is a student-run school newspaper staffed by students
from the 8th grade.
Some extracurricular activities are:
Athletic Association - This association sponsors many sports teams; i.e.,
football, soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, track, volleyball, wrestling,
and cheerleading.
Boy and Girl Scout Troops
Home & School Association - This association sponsors events throughout
the year for the children and their families. Some of these events
help raise funds needed for school purchases not allocated in the school
budget.
Liturgy Group - This Group prepares the students for lectoring at Mass
and instructs them for Liturgical service to the Church.
